Peter&#8217;s September 21, 2019 Updated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Family and Friends,<\/p>\n<p>The children of St. Tabitha Orphanage and School in Malava, Kenya now live in a new home thanks be to God and your generosity.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>A large donation received recently will be used to finish the interior.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_284\" style=\"width: 236px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-284\" class=\"wp-image-284\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sttabithahouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Father-blessing-chicken-coop-and-land.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"226\" height=\"226\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-284\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Father Agapios blessing the chicken coop and fields<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>St. Tabitha House has come a long way to becoming self-sustainable.\u00a0 The land has a well and a stream which irrigates the vegetable field.\u00a0 There are cows and chickens too.\u00a0 We are currently looking into installing solar panels to provide power.\u00a0 There is plenty of sunlight for it!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_285\" style=\"width: 232px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-285\" class=\"wp-image-285\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sttabithahouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/St.-Tabitha-Cow.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"222\" height=\"378\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-285\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The milk cow!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Now is the time to build the school.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It will consist of two temporary buildings with a total of nine classrooms constructed using timber and metal roofing and siding.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Until then, the children have to walk 8 kilometers (5 miles) a day to the old rented schoolhouse and back.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Several of the children have contracted malaria and other illnesses due to the distance they have to walk during the rainy season.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>They have almost all recovered, thanks be to God and your generosity, which enabled Fr. Agapios to afford medical care.<\/p>\n<p>As you can imagine, everything is harder in Africa, especially in the rural areas where St. Tabitha House is.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>These children have advantages now that most do not, including prospects for a productive future for themselves as well as for Kenya.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>To continue the momentum, we now need to put up the two structures for the school as soon as possible.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The estimated cost is $3000.00.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Desks are $50.00 each.<\/p>\n<p>Monthly expenses still have to be met.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>They total $2500.00.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>You can view the budget <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sttabithahouse.com\/index.php\/ways-to-help-financially\/\">here<\/a>. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Please consider <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sttabithahouse.com\/index.php\/ways-to-help-financially\/\">donating<\/a> to St. Tabitha Orphanage and School.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Literally any amount goes a long way to providing for the needs of the children.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I am traveling to Kenya with my daughter Lizzie in March of 2020 and look forward to seeing first hand what you have helped accomplish.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you all again for your donations and prayers. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>May God bless you all.<\/p>\n<p>Warm regards,<\/p>\n<p><em>VRev.
